The Osun State House of Assembly affirmed the PDP-elected local council chairmen from the February 2022 elections as the legitimate custodians of local mandates, warning the Central Bank of Nigeria against releasing funds to APC-appointees reinstated by a February 10 Appeal Court judgment.

The Assembly accused the APC of illegal occupation of council secretariats, citing hardship caused by this despite court rulings nullifying the APC-favored October 2022 local elections.

Meanwhile, PDP in Osun refuted APC’s claims of reinstatement as baseless, calling on the federal government to unblock withheld council allocations to ensure smooth administration, while Osun APC criticized PDP lawmakers for overreaching their constitutional roles.

The crisis also involved a call from an Osun House of Representatives member for Governor Adeleke to cease criticizing President Tinubu over the dispute, with PDP urging Tinubu to intervene against what they called Attorney General Fagbemi’s partisan interference.
