You must live among your people – Akwa Ibom governor tells LG chairmen
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has mandated the 31 local government chairmen to reside within their jurisdictions to foster closer connections with their communities.
He commissioned a new official residence for the Eket Local Government chairman as part of a broader state initiative to build similar lodges, ensuring council leaders live among their people without using local government funds.
The lodges, including facilities like halls and quarters, aim to support effective governance and rural development under the state’s ARISE Agenda.
The governor emphasized non-interference with local government allocations, promoting healthy competition among chairmen to improve their areas.
