WAEC and NECO Exams Will Move to CBT by 2026
- The Nigerian Federal Government announced that WAEC and NECO exams will transition to computer-based testing (CBT) starting from November 2025 with objective questions, and fully including essay papers by May–June 2026.
- This shift aims to curb cheating and exam malpractice, as seen in previous exams like the 2025 UTME, and improve the accuracy and fairness of results.
- The Minister of Education highlighted the issue of cheating at “miracle centres” and emphasized the need for exam security and trust in results.
- Students are advised to start developing basic computer skills ahead of the full CBT implementation to adapt to the new format.
