UK Restates Commitment To Strategic Partnership With Nigeria
The United Kingdom’s Minister for Africa, Lord Collins of Highbury, concluded a three-day visit to Nigeria to reinforce the UK-Nigeria Strategic Partnership focused on enhancing trade, investment, security, and migration cooperation.
During the visit, Lord Collins held meetings with Nigerian officials including Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu to discuss economic growth, regional security, parliamentary engagement, and increasing women’s political participation.
The visit also included discussions with UN representatives on reform and support for Northeast Nigeria, meetings with civil society on governance reforms, and a visit to Nigeria’s Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell supported by UK expertise.
British High Commissioner Dr. Richard Montgomery emphasized the UK’s ongoing commitment to Nigeria’s prosperity through expanded economic ties, underscoring a strategic and long-term partnership.
