Tinubu Honours Bill Gates with CFR Award for Transformative Impact on Nigeria’s Health Sector
President Bola Tinubu awarded Bill Gates the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) for his philanthropic work improving health, agriculture, and infectious disease research in Nigeria.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has invested over $2 billion in Nigeria, notably aiding polio eradication and improving immunisation coverage.
Bill Gates expressed gratitude and reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s health sector, highlighting goals like malaria eradication and reducing cervical cancer deaths through vaccination.
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Aliko Dangote and health officials, underscoring the partnership with Nigerian leaders in health development.
