South African President Calls Out Trump: ‘I’m Sorry I Don’t Have a Plane to Give You’
During a tense Oval Office meeting, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa confronted President Donald Trump over unfounded claims that white farmers in South Africa are victims of genocide, urging Trump to listen to South Africans’ voices for accurate perspectives.
Despite South African courts and agricultural leaders rejecting these genocide claims, Trump has granted refugee status to over 50 white South Africans and boycotted South Africa’s G20 summit participation in response.
Ramaphosa highlighted that farm murders affect both Black and white farmers and emphasized constitutional protections for free speech regarding controversial political songs within South Africa.
The meeting also involved Trump complaining about media coverage of his acceptance of a $400 million plane from Qatar, while South African businessman Johann Rupert suggested technological cooperation to help reduce rural crime.
