Ric Hassani Says Gospel Music Isn’t His Calling, Aims to Impact the World Differently
Nigerian singer Ric Hassani addressed the trend of gospel artists moving into secular music, explaining that this shift is often about seeking purpose rather than financial gain.
He shared his own journey, noting that while he started in church music, he realized gospel ministry was not his true calling and that he is meant to impact the world differently through his music.
Hassani emphasized that gospel music requires a spiritual gift to truly minister and that not all singers feel called to that path, highlighting that he includes Christian elements in his albums but mainly identifies as a secular artist.
He also challenged the assumption that artists switch for money, stating that creative fulfillment and artistic expression are more important than financial rewards.
