A Nigerian police officer is accused of unlawfully detaining Emmanuel Pete, a fish farmer, after raiding his home in Abuja without a warrant.

The officers allegedly extorted ₦1.2 million from Pete despite finding no incriminating evidence during the search.

The victim was threatened not to report the incident, sparking widespread outrage and calls for police accountability online.

Human rights activist Harrison Bbi18 called for an investigation, condemning the actions as damaging to the police’s reputation and enabling criminal behavior.
