Osun Assembly Threatens Lawsuit Over Unauthorized LG Fund Access Amid Political Crisis
The Osun State House of Assembly has threatened to take legal action against the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Central Bank of Nigeria if local government allocations are deposited into unauthorized accounts amid the ongoing council control crisis in the state.
The Assembly insisted only authorized career officers, per the 2025 guidelines, can access local government funds and condemned any intrusion as unlawful and equivalent to fund diversion.
Meanwhile, Rep. Wole Oke criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke for failing to act on a February 2025 court judgment reinstating APC council officials, urging him to end attacks on President Tinubu and others and encourage cooperation with elected council members.
The local government allocations have been withheld since February due to disputes between APC and PDP officials, leading to council secretariat closures and administrative gridlock.
