Obi insists Nigeria remains world poverty capital

Peter Obi, 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, asserts that Nigeria remains the world’s poverty capital, citing worsening conditions reported by the World Bank and UNICEF.
During a visit to Godfrey Okoye University and a health centre in Enugu, Obi donated N20 million to support nursing education and healthcare infrastructure.
He emphasized the importance of healthcare and education in human development and criticized government failures leading to increased poverty and malnutrition.
Obi urged nursing students to take their studies seriously due to Nigeria’s urgent need for healthcare professionals, citing a shortage of over a million nurses in the country.
