NNPCL Refineries Not Producing Enough Petrol – DAPPMAN – Politics – Nigeria
The Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) states that its members will only purchase Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPC) refineries in Port Harcourt and Warri are not optimally producing petrol but primarily producing naphtha.
DAPPMAN’s Executive Secretary, Olufemi Adewole, emphasized the preference for local sourcing from Dangote refinery but noted limitations due to selective supply policies and ongoing negotiations on pricing and bulk purchase logistics.
The association is prepared to import petrol if local supplies fall short and advocates for increased in-country production to better serve Nigerian consumers at competitive prices.
While NNPC claims the revamped Port Harcourt refinery operates at 70% capacity, producing primarily diesel, fuel oil, and naphtha blended into petrol, industry reports show suboptimal refinery output, with the Warri refinery remaining shut due to safety concerns.
