Nigeria’s FCCPC Launches Inter-Agency Committee to Develop Anti-Counterfeit Digital Traceability Portal
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has launched a Joint Inter-Agency Committee to develop a National Digital Traceability Portal aimed at combating counterfeit products in Nigeria.
The portal will use unique QR codes to enable real-time authentication of products by consumers, regulators, and manufacturers, enhancing supply chain transparency.
The committee includes representatives from bodies such as SON, NAFDAC, NITDA, Nigeria Customs Service, and the Nigeria Police Force, reflecting a collaborative approach to enforcement.
This initiative aligns with the FCCPC’s mandate under the 2018 FCCPA to protect consumers and promote fair market practices, with development and implementation plans underway.
