Nigerians Demand EFCC Probe Over ₦266.25m Budgeted Per Streetlight Under President Tinubu
A Nigerian social media user has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate President Bola Tinubu’s administration for allegedly budgeting ₦266.25 million for a single streetlight pole, totaling ₦393.2 billion for 1,477 streetlights.
The post also highlighted another questionable budget item of ₦114.53 billion for 538 boreholes, equating to ₦211 million per borehole, sparking public outrage.
Many Nigerians criticized the EFCC’s effectiveness and questioned its ability to hold the ruling class accountable, with calls for greater transparency and scrutiny from legislative bodies.
The situation has raised widespread concerns about budgetary justice and corruption in Nigeria’s current administration.
