Nigerian Army Warns Against Escalation of Land Dispute Violence in Taraba State
Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade issued a stern warning against escalating violence over a land dispute in Taraba State’s Karim Lamido Local Government Area.
The warning came during a two-day stakeholders’ meeting in Jalingo, addressing conflicts between the Fumang and Illela communities that resulted in violence and property damage.
The meeting included key local leaders and ended with a peace pact emphasizing respect for boundaries, rule of law, and regular dialogue to prevent future conflicts.
The Emir of Old Muri praised the military’s intervention and pledged community support to uphold the peace agreement, warning of consequences for violators.
