Nigeria Shifts Focus to Local Education, Suspends BEA Scheme

- Education Minister Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa confirmed all courses offered abroad under the scheme are now available and better resourced in Nigerian universities.
- The decision allows families to privately sponsor overseas study and welcomes international scholarships that fully cover student expenses without cost to Nigeria.
- Other domestic scholarship schemes and financial aid programs will continue, with current foreign scholarship recipients supported until completion.
