Nigeria Declares June 12, 2025 Public Holiday to Mark 26 Years of Democracy
The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared June 12, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate Democracy Day.
The announcement was made by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, through Permanent Secretary Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
The government celebrates 26 years of uninterrupted civil rule, highlighting the importance of democracy based on the people’s freely expressed will.
The administration of President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed its commitment to democratic values, peace, and justice in Nigeria’s political and social systems.
