Niger State Launches 2025 Immunisation Campaign Targeting 2 Million Under-Five Children
The Niger State Government has launched the May/June 2025 Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week and National Immunisation Plus Days, targeting two million children under five and 600 women.
Governor Umaru Bago highlighted the campaign’s goal to reduce childhood diseases and malnutrition as part of the Niger Agenda, emphasizing health and nutrition as keys to sustainable development.
Free services during the campaign include deworming, antenatal care, birth registration, and distribution of long-lasting mosquito nets, with support from WHO and UNICEF representatives.
The state has upgraded primary healthcare centers and increased healthcare workforce to improve access, especially in remote areas.
