Image Credit: independent- The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo will host the grand finale of MTN Champs Season 3, a grassroots athletics competition aimed at discovering and nurturing Nigeria’s future Olympic stars.
- Since 2023, the competition has attracted over 15,000 athletes from 900 secondary schools across Nigeria and expanded to include participants from Benin Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, and Togo.
- MTN provides athletes with education, exposure, and experience, with 20 MVPs from past seasons currently benefiting from scholarships and training at a top athletics academy in Lagos.
- Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State expressed support for the initiative and announced plans for a modern sports academy to cultivate local talents further.
