Mike Ozekhome Warns Nigeria is Moving Towards One-Party State, Risks Dictatorship
Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome, warned that Nigeria is unknowingly moving towards a one-party state, which could lead to dictatorship if unchecked.
He criticised rampant political defections as signs of politicians’ lack of ideological conviction and likened party-switching to indistinguishable options like “beans, akara, and moi-moi.”
Ozekhome cautioned that absolute corruption and unchecked dictatorship could arise if the National Assembly and judiciary become controlled, urging Nigerians to resist complacency.
He also noted the danger in President Bola Tinubu’s consolidation of power and the risks it poses for future elections if opposition remains divided.
