At the Microsoft Build conference, Microsoft announced new AI-focused features integrated into Windows, including the Windows AI Foundry—tools that enable local AI model management and built-in APIs for advanced functionalities like text summarization and semantic search.

The company introduced Foundry Local for optimized local model usage supporting catalogs from Ollama and NVIDIA, along with new APIs enabling fine-tuning of Microsoft’s Phi Silica AI model on Copilot+ PCs.

Windows will soon incorporate built-in MCP servers that provide AI agents access to core OS features, aimed at fostering agentic applications, with a focus on security and privacy.

Additionally, Microsoft is upgrading Windows’ security with post-quantum cryptography algorithms (ML-KEM and ML-DSA) to prepare against future quantum computing threats.
