Marketers Say Dangote Should Sell Petrol Below N800 Per Litre Despite Current Price
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) states that petrol from the Dangote Refinery should sell below the current N825 per litre, suggesting a price around N750 to N780 is feasible due to favourable local crude and naira-for-crude policy.
IPMAN Publicity Secretary Chinedu Ukadike acknowledged Dangote’s contribution to reducing fuel scarcity and maintaining prices lower than other West African countries but stressed that prices should be cheaper given Nigeria’s crude oil production.
Ukadike highlighted the importance of stabilizing and strengthening the naira to further reduce fuel costs and criticized the current fuel price as not cheap enough despite the enabling environment.
The remarks come in response to Dangote’s assertions about the refinery’s positive impact on fuel availability and pricing in Nigeria amidst ongoing federal government policies.
