Lagos Govt Threatens To Demolish Buildings Without Toilet Over Fear Of Cholera Outbreak
Image Credit: informationngThe Lagos State government has warned residents that houses without toilets, especially in Zongo Community, Gbethrome, Badagry West, will be demolished to curb cholera outbreaks.
This decision follows the death of 14 persons and 54 confirmed cholera cases linked to open defecation in the area.
Dr. Oladapo Asiyanbi, Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Health District V, emphasized the health risks of open defecation during a cholera sensitization campaign with community stakeholders.
The government insists that sanitary facilities are crucial to prevent further health hazards and safeguard residents’ well-being.
