Kano ASUU Demands Removal of ABU VC as Chair of Yusuf Maitama Sule Fed Uni Governing Council
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education Kano (YUMSFUEK) has demanded the immediate removal of Professor Ahmad Adamu, Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, from his position as Chairman of YUMSFUEK’s Governing Council.
ASUU accuses Professor Adamu of a conflict of interest, claiming his dual roles undermine the institution’s transition and violate transparency principles.
The union also rejected plans to appoint a new Vice Chancellor without due process and reappoint the outgoing Acting VC as Acting Deputy VC, citing violations of the Federal Universities Act.
They warned that ignoring these demands could deepen the university’s crisis and urged intervention from the Ministry of Education, NUC, and other bodies. No official response from the Council or university has been reported yet.
