Instagram, owned by Meta, is testing a limited, invite-only “Referrals” program in the US that pays creators up to $20,000 for driving new user visits and sign-ups to the app.

Creators can earn $100 for each new account registration or for every 1,000 eligible visits directed to Instagram through shared links outside the platform.

The six-week program, running from May to June, uses a third-party partner called Glimmer to handle payments and encourages promotion across platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Discord.

This initiative is part of Instagram’s broader strategy to compete with rivals like TikTok and YouTube and attract creator engagement amid ongoing antitrust scrutiny of Meta.
