INEC Sets Dates For 2026 Ekiti, Osun Governorship Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the 2026 governorship election dates for Ekiti and Osun States, scheduled for July 20 and August 8, respectively.
INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu emphasized the importance of the commission’s role in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy during a swearing-in ceremony for six new Resident Electoral Commissioners in Abuja.
Yakubu highlighted INEC’s commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections while urging the newly appointed commissioners to uphold legal and ethical standards.
The announcement aims to help political stakeholders prepare adequately, with political activities expected to intensify as the election dates approach.
