Google Testing Removing Site Names From Search Results
Google is experimenting with removing site names from search result snippets, displaying only the URL at the top where the snippet’s title link usually appears.
The site name feature was introduced for mobile in October 2022 and extended to desktop in March 2023.
This change was spotted by Brodie Clark, who shared side-by-side screenshots comparing search results with and without site names.
It remains uncertain if Google will permanently drop site names from mobile or desktop search results.
