Google Messages has updated its “New chat” page to highlight which contacts have RCS enabled directly in the contact list, making it easier to identify RCS-supported users at a glance.

Contacts with RCS are marked with a badge and dynamic color theming, while SMS/MMS contacts continue to show standard text colors based on the system theme.

This feature, rolled out to beta users in version 20250527_01_RC00, replaces the previous method of checking RCS support by tapping individual contacts.

The update reflects ongoing efforts by Google to enhance RCS adoption and messaging features, including recent additions like “Delete for everyone” and advanced scam protection in Google Messages.
