The French government has donated €850,000 to Nigeria to address plastic pollution through recycling initiatives.

The fund includes provision of two micro recycling plants to Nigerian universities, specifically Nile University and UNILAG, complemented by training and capacity building.

The donation is part of a wider global strategy involving the UN Conference on Ocean Protection in Nice, and aims to combat the environmental crisis posed by plastic waste and microplastics affecting oceans worldwide.

Additionally, Nigerian university students were recognized for transforming plastic waste into viable economic ventures, supported by this French cooperation project.
