Former EFCC Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa Exposes Nigeria’s Fuel Subsidy Fraud in New Book
Abdulrasheed Bawa, former EFCC chairman, has released a book titled ‘The Shadow of Loot and Losses: Uncovering Nigeria’s Petroleum Subsidy Fraud,’ uncovering Nigeria’s fuel subsidy scandal.
The book details fraudulent activities such as ghost importing, over-invoicing, manipulation of shipping documents, round-tripping, and smuggling, which drained public funds under the fuel subsidy scheme.
Bawa draws from his role in probing the 2012 subsidy fraud, revealing how billions were recovered and culprits punished amid systemic corruption and collusion between officials and private actors.
The book is a call for transparency and reform in Nigeria’s oil sector and public finance management.
