Ebonyi Governor approves N500,000 monthly pay for newly recruited doctors
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State announced an increase in the monthly salaries and allowances for newly recruited medical doctors from N150,000 to N500,000 to help them perform optimally amidst rising living costs.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of the state’s health activation programme and the commissioning of hospital equipment worth billions of naira in Abakaliki.
Nwifuru emphasized the high cost of living, especially for doctors working in remote areas who spend heavily on fuel, and encouraged the use of government-provided accommodation to reduce living expenses.
The state’s Commissioner for Health and the Executive Secretary of the State Drug Management Agency praised the governor’s initiatives aimed at improving healthcare delivery and ensuring the availability of necessary drugs and facilities.
