Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has been charged with criminal defamation for accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello of plotting her assassination during a televised interview.

The case, filed by the Department of Public Prosecutions under the Federal Ministry of Justice, is based on allegations made on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ in April and carries a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment or a fine.

Akpabio and Bello have denied the accusations, describing them as false and politically motivated, and both have been listed as witnesses in the prosecution.

This legal action adds to ongoing political and legal confrontations involving Akpoti-Uduaghan, Akpabio, Bello, and their associates, including multiple lawsuits and petitions.
