Court orders VeryDarkMan to pay N200k fine amid Falana suit
A Lagos High Court in Ikeja has ordered social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), to pay N200,000 in fines after dismissing his objections in a N1 billion defamation suit filed by human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, rapper Falz.
The suit concerns a video VDM posted on Instagram in September 2024 that the Falanas claim is defamatory, seeking N500 million each in damages and a public apology.
Justice Fimisola Azeez ruled against VDM’s jurisdictional objection and directed him to file a defense, with the case adjourned to July 8 for further proceedings.
This follows an earlier decision to strike out a related pre-emptive action, allowing the defamation suit to proceed.
