Catholic Bishops Accuse FG and Benue Govt of Failing to Protect Lives Amid Rising Killings
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) condemned the ongoing killings in Benue State, accusing the federal and state governments of failing to protect citizens.
In a statement signed by Archbishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, the CBCN described the attacks as barbaric and called the security situation a breakdown of law and order.
The bishops emphasized that government achievements like infrastructure and salary payments are meaningless if lives are not secured, urging immediate action to restore peace and ensure justice.
They also called on security agencies to enhance professionalism and end impunity in handling the violence.
