Burna Boy announced the end of his “African Giant” persona, attributing its demise to his own people and introducing the “Big 7” persona linked to his last album “I Told Them.”

The Grammy-winning artist, who has had a contentious relationship with the Nigerian music community, accused it of undermining his career and blacklisting him in the industry and media.

He downplayed the value of being number one in Nigeria due to low streaming revenue and criticized Nigerian social media fans’ ability to support artists internationally.

These statements coincided with the imminent release of his new collaboration with American rapper Travis Scott and precede his upcoming 8th album “No Sign of Weakness.”
