All-new Toyota RAV4 makes worldwide debut
Toyota unveiled the sixth-generation RAV4 on May 21, with plans to launch it in Japan by the end of fiscal year 2025. The new RAV4 will offer three designs—Core, Rugged, and Sport—including a new Woodland grade and RAV4 GR SPORT model, featuring Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) powertrains.
The 2026 model incorporates Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system and a new plug-in hybrid system that extends electric range up to 150 km and supports DC fast charging on select trims. Built on the TNGA-K platform, the RAV4 improvements include enhanced structural rigidity, new technology like the Arene software platform, an updated audio multimedia system, and the Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 active safety suite.
The redesign emphasizes SUV utility with large tires, a spacious cargo area, and a functional interior featuring a shift-by-wire system. Toyota aims to further integrate advanced safety, connectivity, and software-defined vehicle technologies through the new platform, marking a significant step in the RAV4 evolution.
