Akwa Ibom Resumes Construction Of Ibom Convention Center And Hotel – Politics – Nigeria
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has resumed construction of the Ibom International Convention Centre and Hotel as part of his administration’s efforts to revive the Ibom Tropicana Entertainment complex and boost tourism.
The facilities include an international convention centre with a 5,000 seating capacity, a 200-room hotel, a shopping city, and a theme park planned for a Public-Private Partnership arrangement.
Governor Eno emphasized the importance of regular, unscheduled inspections to ensure quality, timely completion, and alignment with project specifications, highlighting the significant public funds already invested.
The project is intended to diversify the state’s economy by promoting tourism, but public reactions vary, with some criticizing the initiative as potentially unproductive compared to agricultural investments.
