ADC Threatens Lawsuit Over N50m Campaign Permit Fee in Anambra Governorship Election
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State has threatened legal action against the state government over a new policy requiring governorship candidates to pay a N50 million campaign permit fee for the November 8 election.
The Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA) stated that the fee is for permits allowing campaign activities involving posters and branded vehicles.
ADC’s state chairman, Patrick Obianyo, criticized the policy as an undemocratic attempt to intimidate opposition parties and noted that the incumbent governor did not pay such a fee in his previous election.
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cleared 16 candidates, including Governor Chukwuma Soludo, to contest in the upcoming election.
