Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has started the payment of the new ₦70,000 minimum wage to local government employees, marking a significant step in improving workers’ welfare in the state.

The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) praised the governor for his commitment to labor welfare during a recent courtesy visit.

Governor Fintiri also announced a ₦5 billion financial relief package to be released next month to settle outstanding retiree entitlements.

This wage increase makes Adamawa one of the first Nigerian states to implement such a raise for local government workers, reflecting the administration’s pro-labor stance and inclusive governance.
