2025 Hajj: Saudi Arabia deports Sheikh Gumi
Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a well-known Islamic cleric from Nigeria, was deported from Saudi Arabia and barred from participating in the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage despite holding a valid visa.
He was denied entry into Medina by Saudi authorities due to his political views, which reportedly made them uncomfortable with his presence during Hajj.
Gumi was part of the Nigerian delegation sponsored by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), and he expressed gratitude to the Nigerian government for pledging to intervene.
The Saudi government has not disclosed the reasons for his deportation, and Gumi stated he would focus on personal health and farming activities while praying for the pilgrims and his nation.
