Invasion of our offices by FCTA officials embarrassing – FIRS
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has strongly condemned the invasion of two of its offices by officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), who attempted to enforce non-payment of ground rent.
FIRS refuted allegations of owing 25 years of ground rent, stating that a payment of N2,364,003.26 covering the fiscal years 2000 to 2024 was made following a demand notice from the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS).
Despite this payment, FIRS had not received a receipt and their inquiry on the matter was ignored, prompting calls for an apology from the FCTA for the unjustifiable action.
FIRS officials criticized the FCTA for administrative negligence and emphasized the need for improved inter-agency collaboration to prevent future incidents.
