What No One Tells You About Becoming “That Girl”

What No One Tells You About Becoming “That Girl”

You’ve seen her.

She wakes up at 5:00 AM, drinks green smoothies, journals with perfect handwriting, and somehow manages to look effortlessly radiant — every single day.

She is “That Girl.”

The internet’s version of the ideal woman: productive, balanced, self-aware, clean, focused, and aesthetic.

And like many of us, I wanted to become her.

So I tried.

But what no one tells you is…

becoming “That Girl” isn’t as glamorous as it looks.

✨ What “That Girl” Means (And Why So Many of Us Want It)

At first glance, “That Girl” seems like the answer to everything:

  1. Discipline
  2. Wellness
  3. Beauty
  4. Soft living
  5. Confidence

She represents the life we think we should be living.

The “best version” of ourselves — calm, organized, healthy, driven, and glowing with a main-character vibe.

But here’s the truth:

The aesthetic doesn’t show the whole picture.

🥄 1. It’s Not Just Matcha and Yoga — It’s Mental Discipline

You see the 5 AM alarm.

You don’t see the mental battle it took to leave the bed.

You see the smoothie bowl.

You don’t see the cravings she had to say no to.

You see her journaling by the window.

You don’t see the thoughts she’s fighting or the self-doubt she’s trying to untangle.

Becoming “That Girl” is less about routines and more about mindset work — and that’s the part no one glamorizes.

📵 2. Social Media Only Shows the Highlights

What you’re watching is the edited version of someone’s life.

What you don’t see:

  1. The dishes piled up after the “clean girl” dinner
  2. The skipped workout days
  3. The emotional breakdowns that never made it to TikTok
  4. The off-days when nothing got done and self-doubt screamed louder than affirmations

Trying to become “That Girl” based on highlight reels?

It’ll exhaust you.

😩 3. The Pressure to Be Perfect Can Be Paralyzing

Once I started adopting the routine — journaling, planning my day, meal prepping, setting intentions — I felt good… until I missed a step.

Suddenly, I felt like I failed the entire day.

“If I didn’t wake up early, I’m lazy.”

“If I ate junk food, I’m undisciplined.”

“If I didn’t journal, I’m falling behind.”

But the truth is, you don’t need to be perfect to be improving.

🧠 4. True Transformation Is Internal, Not Aesthetic

Anyone can buy matching workout sets and cute planners.

But real growth happens inside:

  1. Saying no to things that drain your energy
  2. Choosing rest over hustle when your body needs it
  3. Showing up for yourself even when no one is watching
  4. Unlearning toxic habits and thoughts

Becoming “That Girl” isn’t about looking the part.

It’s about living the part — even when it’s messy.

💗 5. You’re Still “That Girl” Even When You Don’t Feel Like It

Let me say this loud for the people in the back:

You don’t have to be productive every day to be worthy.

  1. You can skip the gym and still love your body
  2. You can have a lazy day and still be valuable
  3. You can eat cake for breakfast and still be a work in progress

Growth isn’t linear.

A soft life doesn’t mean a perfect life.

And self-care sometimes looks like sleeping in and doing absolutely nothing.

🌱 So… What Does Becoming “That Girl” Actually Mean?

To me, it means this:

✨ Becoming “That Girl” is becoming yourself — intentionally.

Not TikTok’s version.

Not Instagram’s version.

Your version.

  1. Listening to your body
  2. Setting your own pace
  3. Defining success in a way that aligns with your truth
  4. Letting growth feel good, not guilt-driven

You don’t need a new routine.

You need a new relationship with yourself.

🔁 What I’d Tell Anyone Trying to Be “That Girl”

  1. Start small. You don’t need to change your entire life in one week.
  2. You don’t owe anyone the aesthetic. Growth is still valid even when it’s private.
  3. Rest is productive too. Burnout isn’t a badge of honor.
  4. You’re allowed to redefine “That Girl” every single day.

🧘 The Real Glow-Up

The real glow-up isn’t waking up at 5 AM.

It’s waking up and choosing yourself.

It’s saying:

  1. I’ll show up today, even if it’s not perfect
  2. I’ll be kind to myself, even when I fall short
  3. I’ll love my life — even in its undone state

That Girl? She’s already in you.

You just have to stop chasing the aesthetic and start embracing the journey.
