Underground Mining Alliance Ltd. (“UMA”) is a Joint Venture between African Underground Mining Services Limited (AUMS) and Rocksure International carrying out underground development and production works for the AngloGold Ashanti (Obuasi) Mine.

Job Description

• UMA is seeking to employ qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions: Paste or Construction Crew.
• These are Obuasi based Fixed Term position with a competitive work roster at its operations in Obuasi. Remuneration package includes attractive salary and performance-based incentive payments for the right candidates.

• Accurately drill a series of Long holes to a design pattern using a mechanical drill;
• Read and accurately follow mine instruction plans with precision, ensuring holes are drilled to design line, gradient and profile;
• Communicate with Surveyors, Geologists and Engineers to optimize drill patterns and metres.
• Drill accurately several long holes to a pattern of design using a mechanized drill;
• Set up and troubleshoot on Longhole Drill rigs, specifically on the Sandvik rigs;
• Comply with relevant Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations.
• Carry out standard workplace inspection practices and procedures and prepare area(s) for drilling, charging or scraping in accordance with mine safety procedures.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in the Underground Hard rock Mining Industry preferably with Production charging experience, Up and Down holes;
• Minimum of five (5) years’ working experience as a Longhole Driller;
• Experience operating a Sandvik DL 431-7C in underground mining industry;
• Understand and drill to production design plan;
• Previous experience drilling both Up and Down holes using drill bit sizes ranging from 76mm – 152mm;
• Knowledge of Underground Mining Practices and the efficient operation of an Underground Longhole Machine;
• Sound mechanical knowledge of a Sandvik DL 431-7C;
• Able to set up the drill on semi automation for continuous drilling over shift change;
• Demonstrated abilities to work within a team environment

• The Underground Remote Bogger Operator shall report directly to the Underground Shift Supervisor and the primary role is to bog all development and production headings, load trucks and maintain road works with the operations in a safe and efficient manner for underground mining.
• Bog development headings and stockpiles to trucks;
• Keep trucks operating at full efficiency ensuring all ore, low grade, marginal and waste are kept separate;
• Bog out and clean, which may include inspecting for mis-fires including notification to shift supervisor, hosing down and scaling;
• Tram material from stockpiles and other bogging duties as required;
• Backfilling Stopes with Rockfill, Cement Aggregate Fill (CAF) and Cement Rock Fill (CRF);
• Keep all roads in working area tidy and free from pooling water and other potential hazards;
• Manual and tele-remote bogging of production stopes to stockpiles.
• Sound mechanical knowledge of Boggers and Trucks

Qualification Required & Experience

• Minimum of 7 years’ Underground experience in Hard Rock mining in a mechanized mine operating Underground Haulage equipment.
• Experience with Sandvik LH517I, LH621, LH517 and LH514 Boggers in tele-remote bogging in underground mining industry.
• Backfilling Stopes with Rockfill, Cement Aggregate Fill (CAF) and Cement Rock Fill (CRF);
• Bogging rates of minimum Company parameters of Ton/hour Manual Bogging and 65 Ton/Hour Tele-Remote Bogging;
• Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes) and can drive underground.
• Flexibility and willingness to assist with varied tasks and responsibilities
• Solid history in and Underground Mining Operations.

• Set up rig correctly on a given mark up for cable bolt holes
• Plates and tension cables
• Keep all equipment clean and serviceable

Qualification Required & Experience

• Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience, three (3) of which have been in the operation of Sandvik DS421 machines in underground mining industry.
• Must have excellent knowledge of underground mining practices and be skilled in operating underground cable bolt machine.
• Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes) and can drive underground.
• Must demonstrate strong work ethics and be able to communicate courteously with co-workers.
• Must have an appreciable knowledge on the principle of cable bolt drill operations and be able to drill up and down cable bolt holes.

• Ensure that all statutory requirements associated with the mining operation are completed in compliance with the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana;

• Previous experience working in Hard Rock Underground Mines (with International Underground Mining experience);
