Tullow Oil is a leading independent oil and gas exploration and production company primarily focused on Africa and South America with a portfolio of 90 licences across 16 countries.
Since 2006, Tullow has had interests in two licences in offshore Ghana. In 2008, Tullow was appointed as the Jubilee Field Operator and, working with its joint venture partners and the Government of Ghana, went on to achieve first oil in November 2010. The Jubilee field has become Tullow’s key asset generating significant high-margin oil production. Tullow’s second major discovery and subsequent development in Ghana is the TEN fields where first oil was successfully achieved on time and on budget in August 2016.

The Senior Financial Accountant Corporate is responsible for ensuring that sound Financial and Accounting practices are used, in capturing and reporting all the transactions, in a timely manner in compliance with Tullow’s Accounting policies and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Tullow Ghana Limited (TGL) is seeking to hire a Senior Financial Accountant- Corporate based in Accra to ensure the preparation and reportage of the TGL Income statement and Balance Sheet to statutory agencies and Tullow Plc are accurately and timely done to produce information suitable for management control purposes including:
- Managing the accounting entries for TGL with close monitoring and justification of Gross to Net numbers in preparation of monthly income statement cashflow and Balance sheet.
- Ensuring thorough review and control on the preparation of Key Accounting Transactions monthly including (DD&A, Lease Accounting, Impairment, Decommission and other relevant key transactions)
- Meeting the monthly internal and Group Financials Reporting timelines on a consistent basis.
- Ensuring Balance sheet reconciliation, actions resolution and accounting hygiene of the BU monthly.
- Interfacing effectively with all other relevant unit in monitoring of Cashflow for the BU.
- Maintaining the master data required for customers in SAP.
- Championing best practices in use of ERP system with regards to all modules and the General ledger.
- Preparation of timely Annual Financials while ensuring reviews, signoff and filling of relevant regulatory agencies.
- Championing best practices in use of ERP system with regards to all modules and the General ledger.
- Responsibility for ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
You will ideally be a qualified and commercially aware Financial Accountant who will ensure that all key steps on monthly Financial statement preparation are met with due control approvals for all key journals and control processes. You should also be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- First degree from a leading university in Accounting, Business or related field and a qualified member of a professional accounting body
- A minimum of 5 years’ post qualification experience in a similar role
- An expert user in software such as MS Office, ERP (SAP preferably), Hyperion and Cognos
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills driven by an acumen for data analysis
- Detailed oriented with excellent communication skills – verbal and written
