1. Job Title: Teacher Support Officer

Job Description

• Organize and implement teacher support programming in conjunction with the Teacher Support Team, Country Director and GES
• Conduct scheduled bi-monthly visits at assigned PoP schools in the teacher support program
• Coach and provide feedback to teachers, incorporating strategies and methods shared during workshops as well as general knowledge, follow assigned rubric for best performance
• Create, develop and present materials for teacher support workshops (with support from Programs Manager and Impact Training Specialist)
• Facilitate Teacher Support workshops where necessary
• Participate in E-Reader distributions/pick-ups
• Update and repair broken or malfunctioning E-Readers
• Check, charge and download content to all E-Readers each term
• Manage E-Readers in all of your assigned PoP schools
• Ensure that all students (eligible) have an E-Reader, check-in with contact person regularly, provide additional training if necessary
• Complete and share collected E-Reader data with Intern and any other assigned E-Reader contact persons
• Support parents and community leaders to maximize the use of the E-reader at home
• Update Salesforce regularly with the support of Teacher Support Team and Programs Manager
• Meet with assigned Coordinator bi-monthly to discuss successes and challenges
• Assist with the distribution and use of PoP’s literacy materials and other learning resources
• Stay up to date on best practices in the fields of education, teacher training, and technology
• Contribute to the management and carrying out of PoP Ghana’s literacy innovations in selected schools

Qualification Required & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technology or related field
• A professional teacher or experience teaching basic reading skills
• Very good knowledge of the Education system in Ghana
• At least 1 year experience in training and capacity building, especially on participatory methods of teaching at the basic school level
• Strong knowledge of diverse teaching methodologies and technologies or a willingness to learn
• Strong ICT use and troubleshooting skills
• Familiarity with tablet and E-Reading devices
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and the internet
• Self-motivated, ability to take initiative, and manage his/her own workload
• Strong problem solving skills
• Comfortable working in both urban and rural setting
• Community mobilization and engagement skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Willing to work with children
• Passion for Pencils of Promise Mission
• Ability to ride a motorcycle is an advantage

2. Job Title: Learning and Evaluation Officer

Data Collection

• Collection of educational statistics such as students’ enrolment
• Collection of enrolment data
• Implementing literacy tests to measure the English literacy skills of Primary age students.
• Conducting structured observations of school and classroom-related activities.
• Conducting any other form of qualitative or quantitative survey as required.

Data Inputting and Management

• Inputting all information in a timely manner in our CRM platform, Salesforce
• Cleaning data in Salesforce
• Inputting all information in a timely manner in electronic databases in Google Drive or Excel.
• Monitoring all information in the databases to ensure complete and quality data.

Data Reporting and Communication

• Assisting in reporting key findings to stakeholders.
• Assisting in the creation or improvement of L&E tools to best measure the impact of our work.

Additional Responsibilities

• Ability to ride motorbike
• Be able to communicate in Ewe and Twi
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by Country Director to support the achievement of organizational goals

Qualification Required & Experience

• HND/Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Development, Education or a related field
• At least one year of experience in education, NGOs or related field
• Experience working with rural communities strongly preferred
• Experience conducting interviews, surveys, test administration preferred
• Knowledge of statistical methods preferred
• Self-motivated, ability to take initiative, and manage his/her own workload
• Extremely strong attention to detail
• Community mobilization and engagement skills
• Ability to ride motorcycle is an added advantage
• Comfortable communicating in both Ewe and English languages required; Twi preferred

3. Job Title: Human Resource Coordinator

Role Description

• The HR Coordinator will work closely with the Management team to ensure that PoP’s HR practices are aligned to PoP’s mission and core values, compliant to prevailing legislations and requirements to facilitate the achievement of the objectives and targets of the organization.
• The role will also support administrative functions of the Ghana office.
• A successful candidate should have a strong administration and people management skills and must possess excellent communication and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop/update and implement HR policies, procedures, systems, and structures which promote equal opportunity, trust and confidence among staff and enable line management to manage and motivate staff as well as being the custodian of such policies and procedures
• Develop/update efficient & effective human resource management systems that support the design and implementation of quality programming in schools without compromising compliance
• Champion gender equality, diversity, initiatives and staff wellness including administering welfare benefits
• Support management to promote positive work environment
• Manage recruitment and hiring processes: recruiting, interviewing, conduction and analysing exit interviews, negotiations and recommending changes where applicable
• Support management to manage staff grievances and discipline issues in line with the HR policies and the labour law
• Promote corporate work ethics and values within the organization
• Assess training needs of staff and provide recommendations for training to management
• Coordinate professional development for staff
• Ensure PoP adherence to staff income tax and pension contribution payments
• Manage PoP Ghana Child Protection desk
• Perform other related duties as required

Qualification Required & Experience

• Degree in Human Resources Management/Organizational Behavior/or related field
• Substantial knowledge of Human Resource administrative procedures and systems either through experience gained from human resources working experiences or from a similar NGO
• Substantial knowledge of Ghana Labour law
• Knowledge and understanding of HR issues related to Gender, Equality, Diversity and Child Protection
• Capability to relate and work effectively across culture, more specifically the appreciation of the Ghanaian culture
• Strong commitment to PoP’s values with reasonable judgement to take independent decisions
• A strong leader with ability to motivate and inspire team to achieve superior standard in all aspects of human resource management
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
