Court Jails Man 6 Months For Failing To Declare £8,020, $704 At Lagos Airport

Agudosi Okechukwu was sentenced to six months imprisonment for failing to declare £8,020 and $704 to the Nigerian Customs Service at Lagos Airport.
The businessman pleaded guilty to money laundering charges brought by the EFCC following his arrest at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in December 2024.
Okechukwu declared only £7,000 out of £15,020 and claimed the undeclared money was for transporting his deceased brother’s body.
The court ordered the forfeiture of the undeclared sums to the federal government, with fines as an alternative to imprisonment.
