Canada-based Nigerian arrested over $610,382 romance scam
Image Credit: dailypost- Chimezie Nwabueze, a 28-year-old Nigerian living in Toronto, has been arrested for defrauding two victims of over $610,000 in an online romance scam.
- The victims believed they were in a genuine relationship, and Nwabueze claimed to own an oil rig in the Middle East to solicit urgent financial help.
- Nwabueze was charged with multiple offences including fraud, laundering, and involvement in a criminal organization, and was released on an undertaking pending court appearance.
- The victims communicated with him only electronically and were never reimbursed after he ceased contact.
