Benue Appeal Panel Upholds APC’s Victory in All 23 Local Government Elections
The Appeal Panel on Local Government Election Petitions in Benue State upheld the election of all 23 local government chairmen from the All Progressives Congress (APC), affirming victories previously nullified.
The decision on June 3, 2025, reversed tribunal rulings that had invalidated APC wins in nine councils following the October 2024 elections conducted by the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).
The panel dismissed petitions mainly from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and others, citing a lack of substantive evidence of electoral violations.
Agatu Local Government Chairman Melvin Ejeh welcomed the ruling and called for reconciliation and collaboration across parties to promote grassroots development and good governance.
